I had to do it; artist´s statement

Amy Hannum is a versatile artist and designer known for abstract imagery and use of vivid hues. In a by-any-means-possible approach to art she focuses on non-verbal communication and emotional responses to our surroundings. Materials include, but are not limited to, encaustic, plaster, metal, found objects, song, performance and installation.

"My goal with art is to remind people of our basic human nature, to bridge our many differences by focusing on our commonalities. I like to bring people together using art that resonates with them non-verbally. Viewers often say that they sense the underlying emotions within my work, that they elicit a visceral response that goes beyond words yet delivers deep understanding."

Hear Hannum talk about the Cosmic Disc and Color Vibration series at the RAW Encompass show in Tribeca, NY. Interview starts at 1:11.
